She was born Nov. 26, 1913, in Clarks Hill, Indiana, to Louie and Edith (Cass) Smart. She owned Peters Drilling Co. and later Peters Hardware with her husband in Garnett. She later worked part time at Webster's Jewelry, Jan's Craftique and helped her husband at the golf course.
She married Ellsworth Peters on Oct. 25, 1933. He preceded her in death in 2001.
She was a member of several clubs, was a past president of PTA; the Bowling Association; Quilt Guild; Sunset Garden Club; Business and Professional Women's Club; was a past district deputy of Rebekah Lodge; United Methodist Women, the United Methodist Church and taught Sunday School for several years.
She is survived by a son, Ron, Frisco, Texas; two daughters, Janice Hodgson and Bonnie Beauchamp, both of Garnett; a sister-in-law, Irene Smart, Osage City; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Leroy, Clellie, Byron, Loran and Dayton; and a sister, Irene Salsbury.
She will lie in state after 9 a.m. today at the funeral home with visitation from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today. Burial will be in Garnett Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Golden Heights Living Center.
