Lela was a cheerful, loving and giving lady. She was always ready with a smile, kind word, helping hand, something tasty to eat or whatever else someone might need. She lived her life with the guiding principles of "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you", "It is better to give than to receive" and "Trust in the Lord."
Lela loved to cook, sew, read, do crafts, jigsaw or crossword puzzles and travel. She was always an active, energetic and hard working person. She enjoyed being outdoors in any kind of countryside--whether seashore, desert, mountains or plains. She loved all of God's creations--people, animals, trees and flowers. Her greatest joy was in sharing time and these activities while in the company of her treasured, very large family and group of friends.
Lela will be greatly missed by her three children; two grandchildren; three great grandsons, and many nieces, nephews and friends across the USA and the world.
The family would like to thank all of the staff at both Brodie Ranch Rehabilitation and Health Care Center and New Century Hospice for their care and support over the last few months.
Her life will be celebrated at a Memorial service at 11am on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Weed-Corley-Fish South Chapel, 2620 S. Congress Avenue.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in memory of Lela be made to The Nature Conservancy http://my.nature.org/donate/memorial-giving.html
