Josephine Esther (JoJo) Rives a longtime resident of Shamrock, TX passed from this life to the next one on May 2, 2011 in Austin, TX. She was born in Highlands, TX on May 17, 1927, the youngest of thirteen children of Albert and Esther Clark Patton. During her lifetime she lived in Waco and Austin. Then, something wonderful happened in JoJo's life. In 1956, she met and married her soul mate and the love of her life, Doug Rives, a lifelong Shamrock area resident. For nearly fifty years, they were active in all community events and most especially enjoyed being involved in the annual St. Patrick's Day celebrations. Doug went on to serve as Mayor of Shamrock for multiple terms and JoJo always enjoyed the title of "Mrs. Mayor." Together they made a good team, always working together to bring events to the National Guard Army for the entertainment of the people of Shamrock. JoJo truly was an angel on earth and lived her life to the fullest each and every day. She enjoyed working in the Shamrock Flower Shop and she always had a smile for everyone. It is well known that pink was her favorite color. It is expected that we all will be seeing many more pink clouds as we look to the skies above....and soon, heaven too will be decorated in various shades of pink. JoJo was preceded in death by her parents, eleven of her siblings, her adored husband Doug, and her son, Doug Rives II. We family would like to thank the staff of Carestone Assisted Living in Austin for all of the love and wonderful care given to our JoJo during the past two years of her life, especially to Christine her dear friend, hairdresser, and "special caregiver."
