Carl B. Dicks, 92, of Broadlands died at 5 a.m. Friday (Sept. 13, 1991) at United Samaritans Medical Center, Logan Campus, Danville.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 16 at Broadlands United Community Church, Broadlands. The Rev. Paul Wier officiated. Burial was in Fairfield Cemetery, near Newman.
Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Joines Funeral Home, 301 W. Gillogy, Newman. Masonic rites were at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Dicks was born March 19, 1899, at Broadlands, a son of Dr. Thomas A. and Mary Thompson Dicks. He married Isabel Krugh on May 27, 1945, at Sidney. She survives.
Also surviving are one brother, F. A. Dicks of Broadlands; five nephews and three nieces.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Mr. Dicks was a veteran of World War I and World War II. He was a member of the Broadlands Masonic Lodge 791, and was a grand lecturer emeritus. He was a member of Danville Consistory, Newman Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 260 and Broadlands United Community Church. He was a rural mail carrier for 39 years, retiring in 1957.
