Mrs. Mary Ellen Squires, wife of James Squires, of Stockwell, died very suddenly at 10:30 Wednesday night. She had just started home, with her husband, from a restaurant which they opened three weeks ago, when she was stricken. She was carried into their home and two physicians were summoned. Mrs. Squires died, however, in a few minutes of heart trouble. The daughter of Christopher and Levinna Brinkley, she was born September 29, 1858, in Bass county Virginia. On November 13, 1880, she was united in marriage to James Squires, at Thorntown. The husband and the following children survive: Elmer Squires, of Lafayette Rural Route E.; Otto Squires, Frankfort’; Curtis Squires, Stockwell; and Mrs. Ruby Killian, Lafayette. She is also survived by a brother James Brinkley, of Clark’s Hill, and four sisters, Mrs. Betty Gard and Mrs. Frank Peterson, of Stockwell; Mrs. Anna Nunnimaker, Portland, Or.; and Mrs. Grant Rice, of Indianapolis.
