Mrs. Lavina Brinkley died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. U. G. Rice, of Frankfort, Wednesday afternoon at 2:45 o’clock. She had lived for years in the Clark’s Hill vicinity and was well and favorably known there. She had been in failing health for some time but her condition did not become serious until about six weeks ago. Death was due to infirmities of age. She was born in Augusta county, Georgia, on October 10, 1831. She was a true Christian woman and an untiring worker in the United Brethren church of which she was a member. On December 11, 1855, she was united in marriage with C. S. Brinkley and with her husband came from Virginia to this state. Following the death of her husband in 1901 she made her home with her daughter in Frankfort. The deceased is survived by six children; Mrs Munnemaker, of Portland, Oregon; Mrs. James Squires, of Stockwell; Mrs. Frank Peterson, of Potato Creek, Indiana; J. W. Brinkley, of Clark’s Hill; Mrs. W. M. Boyer, and Mrs. U. G. Rice, of this city. A short prayer service was held by Rev Thomas at the Rice home last evening at 7:45 o’clock. The funeral party will leave at 7 o’clock this morning for Stockwell, going overland. At 10 o’clock this morning the funeral services will be conducted at Stockwell by Rev. Thomas with interment in the Stockwell cemetery. (Lafayette, Indiana newspaper, Friday, July 4, 1913)
