Death claimed James Squires, retired farmer and blacksmith, of Stockwell, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Killian, Jr., 2130 North Eighteenth street, Lafayette, at 11:00 Wednesday night. Death resulted from a complication of discases after a seven weeks' illness. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Squires, he was born in Boone county, April 11, 1858, and in 1880 married Mary Ellen Brinkley, who died April 20, 1927. He resided in or near Stockwell until coming to Lafayette to live with his daughter. A member of the Stockwell M.E. church, he was active in community affairs and was the father of eight children, four of them preceding him in death. Surviving are three sons, Curtis, of Stockwell; Otto, of Frankfort; and Elmer of Dayton, and the daughter at whose home he died. Six grand children and two great-grandchildren also survive. The body was removed to the Baker funeral home, Dayton, and was to be returned to the Killian home Thursday afternoon where friends may call after 6:30. Short funeral services will be held at the Killian residence at 1:15 p m Saturday. And services will be held at 2:00 from the Stockwell M.E. church, Rev. George. B. Jones, pastor of Congress street M.E. church officiating: burial in the Stockwell cemetery.
