Death Of Mrs. Sarah Watt

Mrs. Sarah Talula Gilbert, widow of the late Warren Watt, age 75 years, passed away Saturday afternoon, Feb. 26, 1944. On July 7, 1885, she and Mr. Warren Watt were married. To this happy union one boy and five girls were born, only two of whom survive her. The children were Guy, Mrs. C. P. (Mattie) Morgan of Atlanta, Ga., Mrs. Elbert (Mamie) Adams, and Mrs. E. G. (Catherine) Thompson, and two infants.
She was one of the oldest members of Madison Baptist church, was devoted member and attended services as long as she was able to attend. She lived an humble, quiet Christian life, speaking ill of no one, was submissive and uncomplaining in her last few days of intense suffering.
Funeral services were held at her home on Monday afternoon by her former pastor, Rev. P. F. Capell. Her body was laid to rest by her husband who had preceded her to the grave fourteen years.
She leaves to mourn her death two daughters, four sisters, as follows: Mrs. Nancy Thompson of Madison, Mrs. Lou Cannon, Mrs. Ida Harris, and Mrs. Arthur Brown of Greenwood, one brother, Mr. Arthur Gilbert of Anderson, two sisters-in-law, Mrs. J. L. Watt of Westminster and Mrs. W. E. Gilbert of Honea Path; also seven grandchildren.
The pallbearers were Marion and Melvin Adams, Ben Sheriff, Howard Head, Archie Wheeler, and John Allen Reynolds. The flower girls were Christine Jaynes, Vivian Ayers, Maryland Duke, Sara Lanier, Lillie Jean Turpin, and Annie Ruth Weaver. Many lovely flowers were placed on her grave.
