Raymond was born September 21, 1929, in Tucumcari, NM. He was a member of the St. Anne's Catholic Church in Tucumcari. He had been active in the concrete construction business until his retirement.
Surviving Raymond is three daughters, Dolores Quintana, Priscilla Lovato and husband, Ted and Bertha Chavez and husband, Charlie all of Tucumcari; three sons, Johnny Chavez, Ernie Chavez and wife, Paula and Norman Chavez all of Tucumcari NM; his sister, Ruth Martinez of California; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Celia Chavez in 2006; by his parents, Gregorio and Felicitas Sanchez Chavez; by two brothers, Manuel and Fidel Chavez; by four sisters, Lupe Rico, Martha Shoemaker, Maria Salazar and Margarita Gonzales.
Rosary services will be Sunday evening in the St. Anne's Catholic Church beginning at 7:00 PM with Mass of the Resurrection being offered on Monday morning at 10:00 AM in the St. Anne's Catholic Church with Rev. Father Hyginus Anuta as Celebrant. Interment will follow in the Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari, NM.
