Rudolph W. Athman, 86, died peacefully Tuesday at the Country Manor Health Care Center, Sartell with his family present. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday June 7, 2002 at Mary of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Rockville, MN. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Thursday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring. Knights of Columbus and Catholic Order of Foresters will pray at 7:00 p.m. and parish prayers will be at 8:00 p.m.

Rudy was born in Avon to Joseph and Mary (Albers) Athman. He married Irma Schoenberg on August 31, 1940 in Spring Hill, MN. He was a longtime resident of the Rockville area where he was a farmer and carpenter. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, Catholic Order of Foresters, and WW II Veteran serving in the Pacific Theatre. Rudy was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed bowling and playing cards. He especially loved family gatherings and his grandchildren.

Survivors include his children, Joyce (William) Love, Roger (Maureen), Bruce (Dolly), Barbara (Douglas) Paulson, Vernon (Mary) and Gail Weber; brothers, Herbert and Alfred; sisters, Matilda Ressemann, Lydia Rausch; 15 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Irma; son, Joseph; brother, Richard; sisters, Rita, Julie and Marietta; grandson, David and great-granddaughter, Allison.

Memorials will be donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Association.
