Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Waite Park, for Herbert Frank Athman, who died at Quiet Oaks Hospice House. Friends and relatives may call from 4:00 " 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 5, at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, St. Cloud and also after 9 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home in St. Cloud. Parish Prayers will be at 5:00 p.m. followed by Eagles Aerie 622 prayer service at 5:30 p.m. Reverend George Michael, V.C. will officiate and burial will be at St. Josephs Parish Cemetery in Waite Park.

Herbert was born to the late Joseph and Mary (Albers) Athman in rural Avon. He married Monica (Rausch) on June 24, 1950 at St. Benedicts Church in Avon. Herbert worked for Frigidaire (formerly Franklin Mfg.) for 37 years. He was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church in Waite Park and a member of Eagles Aerie 622. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and woodworking.

Herbert is survived by his wife, Monica; children, Patricia (Frank) DeForest of Fredericksburg, VA, Charles (Donna) Athman of Sartell, Mary (Ricardo) Abbott of Maple Grove, Mark Athman (Karen Partch) of St. Cloud, Karen (Jim) Sundell of St. Cloud, Jean (David) Neu of Clearwater, and Paul (Mary Jo) Athman of Waite Park; siblings, Mathilda Reeseman, Lydia Rausch and Alfred Athman; grandchildren, Alex & Ben DeForest, Eric, Aaron & Ryan Athman, Kate Abbott, Laura Arndt, Jacob Athman, Ashley & Amanda Sundell, Michael, Nolan & Isaac Neu, and Jenna Athman; and great grandchildren, Owen, CJ & Quinn Arndt and Ava & Whitney Athman.

He was preceded in death by his son, Joey Athman; granddaughters, Krista and Kayla Athman; and siblings, Rudy, Richard & Marietta Athman, Julie Goerss and Rita Lauer.
