Pioneer Milk Dealer Dies
B.R. Barlup, Near Price's Church Succumbs After Illness of Two Weeks
A heart condition which developed after a two weeks illness with influenza and Erysipelas, proved fatal to B.R. Barlup, Pioneer milk dealer in Waynesboro, at his home near Price's church, at 5:15 o'clock Friday afternoon.
Mr. Barlup was born in Washington county, Md., a son of Isaac and Annie E. (Izer) Barlup. He was educated in the public schools of Washington county and at the age of 21 years he moved to Ohio where he taught school for five years. He then moved to Kansas where he homesteaded. He farmed and taught school, and while living their married Miss Loretta Malaska Titsworth, of Ohio. He returned in 1890 to Washington county and farmed in the Leitersburg district.
Forty years ago, he moved near Price's church, where he since lived. His wife died in 1896.
Mr. Barlup was regarded as one of the pioneers in the sale of bottled milk in Waynesboro and vicinity. He was one of the organizers and directors of the merged Waynesboro Trust company and at the time of his death was a director of the First National Bank and Trust company in Waynesboro.
In 1914 he was married to Mrs. Mary Barnhart Beard, who survives him, together with four sons by his first, marriage; Mack, at home; Clarance and Homer, near Salem church and Hugh of Zullinger. Sixteen grandchildren, and three brothers and sisters also survive; J.H. and J.W. Barlup, Bellefontaine, Ohio, and P.K. Barlup of Hagerstown; Mrs.. H.E. Martin, Mrs. M. B. Jeter and Mrs. Lola Wayman all of Washington, D.C.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the home, in charge of Rev. S.E. Lobach. Burial will be made in Leitersburg Lutheran cemetery.

Brother of J.H. Barlup Is Dead
Was Prominent Dairyman Known Throughout East - Had Once taught School in Ohio
B.R. Barlup, 73, died at his Spring Brook farm near Waynesboro, Pa., Friday at 5:15 p.m. just twenty-four hours after his brother, J.H. Barlup arrived at the home.
The deceased was born in Leitersburg, Md., where burial was made following funeral rites held in the home, Monday.
A dairyman for forty-one years he had long been recognized as one of the largest dairy farmers in the east. In his young manhood he was engaged for a few years as a teacher in a school near West Mansfield, Logan County, and later took up a homestead in Kansas before returning east.
He was one of a family of thirteen children, three brothers and three sisters surviving him. He also leaves his widow and four sons.
J.H. Barlup and his daughter, Miss Mable Barlup, who accompanied him to Pennsylvania, returned last night. Age 73yrs.1mo.6dys.
