No record has been found for a marriage of Malaska's mother, Lydia Heisler, but there were Titsworths that lived in the same Logan Co., OH area as the Heislers. It is known that Lydia was her mother as in Malaska's grandfather, Joseph Heisler's probate records it states, "Malaska Titsworth, heir of Lydia Heisler decd".

Malaska was 6yrs old when her mother died of consumption in 1869. Malaska was living with her grandfather, Joseph Heisler on the 1870 US Census in Logan Co., OH. The 1880 she was living with her aunt, Mary Heisler Washburn in Logan Co., OH. On 4/1/1887 she was married to Barry Barlup in Phillips Co., KS.

About 1881 Malaska's husband, Barry Barlup, moved to Logan Co., OH per his obituary and an article in a Hagerstown newspaper article stating he lived in West Mansfield, OH, which is where the Heislers lived. Barry's obituary states he was a school teacher for 5 years in Logan Co. It is assumed he probably met Malaska there. By 1886 Barry had moved to KS.

By 1885 Malaska's aunt, Mary Heisler Washburn was living in Phillips Co., KS, per the 1885 Kansas State Census. However, I could not find Malaska on that census. But we know that Malaska was in Phillips Co., KS by her marriage date. Possibly she and Barry moved to KS together. In 1890, Barry and Malaska moved back to Washington Co., MD, per Barry's obit.
