Mr. Lisle was born in the county on July ?0, 1820. His father was James Lisle, a son of John Lisle who moved to Clark county from Virginia about 1777. The maiden name of Claiborne Lisle's mother was Nancy George. His grandmother was a daughter of Valentine Martin, said to have been born in the old fort at Boonesboro. Mr. Lisle was the last of a family of eight. He was married to Esther Hampton in 1841. She died May 26, 1878. They were the parents of eleven children, five are now living - J.D. Lisle, Mrs. Henry Oliver, D.C. Lisle, Thoms Lisle and Mrs. Minerva Hodgkin.
