Henry E. Lang, 71, died at his home, 311 West Third street, at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday. He had been in failing health for two years suffering from a heart ailment.
He was born on a farm north of Muscatine, April 12, 1865, the son of Nichols and Margaret Lieberknecht Lang. Thirty-seven years of his life were spent on a farm north of Grandview, and the last 14 years in Muscatine.
On Feb. 5, 1896, he married Margaret A Gast at Grandview. Surviving are his wife, one sister, Mrs. R. B. Herr, three brothers, Will and Louis of Wilton and George of Grandview, and a niece and nephew. His parents, two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Mr. Lang was a member of the Evangelical church of Grandview until moving to Muscatine, since which time he has attended the First Baptist church.
The body is at the Ralph J. Wittich Funeral home where it will remain for services to be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Vance H. Webster, pastor of the First Baptist church will officiate. Burial will be in the Grandview cemetery.
