h/o Margaret Louise (Bodkin) Bellville
1930 New Salem, McDonough, IL
William H. Marshall 63
Margaret 74
Martha Cheesman 14
(Margaret's granddaughter)
note: Although his death certificate was prepared showing that William was born in 1864, the ages for William in census records are uncommonly consistent, suggesting that he was born in 1867.
1870 - age 3, with his older sister at age 4. Her birth date is recorded as Jan 19, 1866.
1880 - age 13, with his older sister age 14
1900 - age 33, born in April of 1867
1910 - age 43
1920 - not found
1930 - age 63
Further, the age at first marriage, 45, reported in the 1930 census is also incorrect. He was first married to Ella M. about 1904. They were in Fort Collins, Colorado, with their only surviving child. I've not found Ella M. or the son in later censuses. All we know about his date of marriage to Margaret is that it likely occurred between Nov 5, 1922 (when Thomas died), and Apr 1, 1930 (the base date of the 1930 census.)
