George W. Wilhoit, 84, of Flag Branch Road, died Friday at Laughlin Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Wilhoit was a farmer and a retired brick mason.

He was a member of Flag Branch Church of God.

Those close to him knew him as a very loving husband, father, and grandfather. They said he was happiest when in the presence of his grandchildren.

The family also said that "his family meant so much to him and will be sadly missed by them."

Survivors include his wife of 64 years: Helen Grubbs Wilhoit; his son and daughter-in-law: Ronald and Mable Wilhoit of Greene County; his daughter and son-in-law: Barbara and Tom Troutman of Clifton, Va.; four grandchildren: Brad Troutman, Denise Mach, Mike Troutman, and Chad Wilhoit; six great-grandchildren; three sisters and a brother-in-law: Margorie and Jay Malone, Veldeana Miller, and Dollie Seaton, all of Greene County; and several nieces and nephews.

He was a son of the late E.J. and Vena Bell Darnell Wilhoit and was preceded in death by eight sisters and two brothers.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 this evening at Kiser Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held at 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon at Kiser Funeral Chapel with interment in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. The Rev. Ralph Shipley and the Rev. Jimmy Fillers will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Donald Dean Miller, Joe Bob Humphreys, Silas "Cotton" Seaton, Bobby Gene Wilhoit, J.S. Fillers, Billy Walker, J.C. Wilhoit and Billy Joe Wilhoit.

Honorary pallbearers will be friends of the family and Dr. Maynard Austin
