Mr. Long was born Nov. 14, 1900, in Rockingham County, the son of Samuel W. and Ida Click Long. He was an industrial electrician and, founded Winchester Electric Service in 1935. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Good Samaritan Bible Class, the American Association of Retired Persons, and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.
He married Fleta McLaughlin on Aug. 24, 1924, in Harrisonburg.
Surviving with his wife, are a son, Donald M. Long of Frederick County; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Mount Hebron Cemetery, with the Rev. Dr. R.A. Dailey and the Rev. Dr. Stephen Hundley officiating.
