Rebecca Stewart Akin was a cripple from rheumatism for more than twenty years and moved about in a wheelchair. She had a remarkable memory. She kept a journal of the family from which much of the Stewart information came. She gave her son, Ransom Wallace Akin, a Bible, and last accounts it was in the possession of John S. Akin of Carlisle, IN.; the diary was passed down to her son, Isaac Newton Akin, and was given to his daughter, Florence Augusta Akin.
