Lloyd Hymas Toomer, 64, of Menan, died at home, May 21, 1989, of cancer.
He was born January 3, 1925 at Rigby to William P. and Mabel Hymas Toomer. His early years were spent in Rigby where he attended school.
He joined the US Marine Corps during World War II. He received the Purple Heart for wounds received at Tarawa in 1944.
On March 23, 1946 he married Nona Watson in Dillon, Montana.
He began working for Toomer Construction in 1947, specializing in earth moving throughout Idaho and Wyoming. He received the Ray Palmer conservation award in 1981.
Survivors include his wife, Nona of Menan; two sons, Ron Clawson and Richard Clawson, both of Rigby; four daughters, Nancy Priest and Betty Lloyd Tanner, both of Menan, Tamara Kinghorn of Ucon, and Shirley Johnson of Idaho Falls; one sister, Verla Clement of Hemet, California; two brothers, William "Bill" Toomer of Richfield, Utah, and Larry Toomer of Rigby; 17 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at the Menan Stake Center with Bishop Larry Lee officiating. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.
