William Clyde "Bill" Toomer, 86, passed away at home, peacefully in Richfield on March 23, 2016. He was born to William P. And Mabel Hymas Toomer on October 21, 1929 in Rigby, Idaho. On August 31, 1951, he married his sweetheart, Colleen Mae Cook in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple. They were later blessed with three children, Marc, Merri, and Melanie.

Bill grew up on a farm where he was instilled with a strong work ethic, which later helped lead him to success in all he did. He was a veteran of the US Navy, serving during the Korean War. Upon his return, Bill ran a service station in Idaho where he never met a stranger. He then went on to be assistant manager of JC Penney in Rigby and in 1957 was transferred, courageously moving his young family to Richfield site unseen. He met and partnered with the late Leon Hall to open the long standing family business, B-L.

Bill was a strong community member and participated in the JC’s, Lions Club, Richfield Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Sevier County Search and Rescue for 30 years, during which he served one year as commander.

In retirement, he and Colleen were active in the Good Sam Club for 12 years. One of those years he served as president. This group of snowbirds enjoyed traveling monthly, to warmer climates and destinations. He was a devoted family man and friend. He loved talking "Donald Duck" to thrill little ones earning the heartfelt title "Grandpa Duck" to many young and old. He enjoyed intricate wood working in his shop, gardening - especially his vegetables and beautiful roses. He was quite the handyman, with a love for the great outdoors.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Colleen; son, Marc (Tammy) Toomer of Richfield; daughters, Merri Jacobs of Las Vegas, NV and Melanie Hales of Long Beach, CA; He is also survived by eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Carol Toomer of Rigby, ID.
