Albert Belfield was the son of Henry Holmes Belfield and Cynthia Wharton who moved to Philadelphia from Nottingham, England in 1820. They had 8 children:

- Mary "Mae" E. BELFIELD Krause(1868-1888) born (11 Jan 1868) in Keokuk, Iowa, buried in Belfield Cemetery, Pioneer Rush, Kansas. She married a boy from a family who had also migrated from Pennsylvaia. Michael Krause, Abt 1886, near her home. They had two children. Minnie Mae Krause (1886–1969) who married Charles Brown Ater (1873-1907), and Jesse Krause (sources differ as to her date of birth 1886 or 1887-1888) Mary "Mae" E. Belfield died about the same time as Jesse Krause.
Jesse, her baby, died shortly after birth.
