MARION – C.W. "Dub" Atkins, 65, formerly of Mitchell County, died Wednesday, April 24, 2002 at his home. He was the son of the late Vaughn and Rexie Miller Atkins. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Renee Atkins. He was formerly employed with Thomas Redmon and Company.
Survivors include his wife, Margie Toney Atkins of the home; three daughters, Tammy Brown and Lisa Kirkland, both of Marion, and Pam Allison of Union Mills; a son, Carroll Atkins of Marion; four brothers, Charles, E.J., Bill and Larry Atkins, all of Spruce Pine; two sisters, Pauline Murphy and Barbara Silvers, both of Spruce Pine; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home. Rev. Dennis Hensley officiated. Burial was in Fairview Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received
friends from 10 a.m. until the service hour on Saturday.
