Tupelo – Martha Sue Allred, 68, died Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at her residence after an extended illness, surrounded by her children. A Lee County native, she was born Feb. 3, 1942, to Clarence and Sarah Snipes Barnes. She was a graduate of Shannon High School. A dedicated employee of Prime Designs Inc,, she worked as a sewing machine operator until her health declined. She was a devoted mother and loved the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services were at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with burial in Priceville Cemetery.

Survivors included her husband of 20 years, James Allred of Tupelo; five children, Anita Hunter (Mike) of Mooreville, Terry Hardin of Verona, Lisa Richey (Gary) of Mooreville, Junior Hardin of Verona and Tammy King (Gene) of Walnut; five stepchildren, Jimmy Allred of Hawaii, Randy Allred (Wanda) of Columbus, Scotty Allred (Joanna) of Tupelo, Tracey Janelle (Richard) of Birmingham and Nicole Johnson (Jerry) of Mantachie; one twin sister, Mary Herod (Wayne) of Tupelo; 11 grandchildren, 10 stepgrandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister; one brother; and one great-grandchild.
