Fred was born in Big Cabin, OK on June 4, 1923 to Fred and Bertha (Pitts) Claggett. He served in the US Air Force, worked for the railroad, attended Oklahoma City University, worked as a draftsman and taught school at Roosevelt Junior High School in Selma,CA. He married Ruth Yakligian in 1950 and they had 2 children.

Fred was one of the kindest, finest men I have ever known. He was a quiet, unassuming man who would give you the shirt off his back but never failed to stand up for what he believed in. He enjoyed reading, current events, investing, had a very "unique" sense of humor but most importantly, he loved the Lord more than anything in this world. I know these things because he was my father.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years Ruth, parents Fred and Bertha, several siblings,2 nieces and 2 nephews.

Graveside services were held Oct.6, 2004 at Ararat Cemetery.
