Grover Lindy Claggett, age 87, passed away on June 24, following a long term illness, while in Integris Hospital, Miami, OK.
Born December 15, 1927 to Fred and Bertha Pitts Claggett, Mr. Claggett lived in the Big Cabin area with his family for thirty years.
As a 1945 graduate of Big Cabin School, he served in the United States Air Force.
For over 20 years he lived west of Big Cabin. After selling the family farm and moving to Vinita, he became an employee of the former Eastern State Hospital. He worked in the upholstery and maintenance departments, where he retired.
Survivors include his daughters, Cheryl and her husband, Rick Flood of Grove, Linda and her husband, Richard Castaldo, of Grove and son, Randy of Joplin, Missouri. Mr. Claggett had six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by one daughter, Maretha Carney.
A private graveside memorial service for family, will be held at the Big Cabin Cemetery, under the direction of Burckhalter Funeral Home, on Friday, June 26. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to Grove First Baptist Church, 501 East 13th Street, Grove, OK 74344.
