Charles O. "Cy" Mather, 77, a retired Monon Railroad telegrapher, died at 12:30 p.m. Monday at his home, 1408 Locust street, New Albany. He was an uncle of John Mather, residing north of Seymour, of Joe Mather, South Poplar street and of Mrs. Jack Oathout, Cortland, and was a brother-in-law of Mrs. Nellie Mather, 414 South Poplar street.

Mr. Mather retired 12 years ago after 45 years of service with the railroad. He was a member of Centenary Methodist Church at New Albany and was a member of the Order of Railway Telegraphers.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Carrie W. Mather; two sons, William H. and Howard M. Mather, both of New Albany; four daughters, Mrs. Sanford Aldridge, Jeffersonville; Mrs. Arthur Gerrell, New Albany; Mrs. Robert Anthis, Louisville and Mrs. Wendell Dilley, Martinsville. Fifteen grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the Seabrook Funeral Home, New Albany. Burial in Fairview Cemetery there.
