Dorothy Irene Rutledge, 85, of Jonesboro, AR., passed Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011, at St. Bernards Medical Center.

She was born October 14, 1926, in Delaplaine, AR., to the late Arthur and Gurta Davis.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Nettleton Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Assistant Superintendent and was on several church committees.

She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Rowlett (Don) of Jonesboro; a son, Virgil Dean Rutledge (Sandy Smith) of Orchard Lake, Michigan; a son-in-law, Jim Smith of Jonesboro; six grandchildren, Lisa Rutledge Heintz (Ken) of Lewis Center, Ohio, Tammy Reeder (Ernest) of Cabot, Shelley Rutledge of Austin, Texas, Greg Smith (Hope) of Jonesboro, Jacob Rowlett of Tunica, Mississippi and Ragen Boling (Eric) of Jonesboro; five great-grandchildren, Jacklyn Reeder, Drew Heintz, Cameron Bernard, Aidan Bernard and Houston Boling; three sisters, Jessie Fletcher (Doyle), Vernell Miller and Shirley Trusal (Bob); a brother, Charles Davis (Carol) and close friends, Shirley and Bob Mooneyham.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, David R. Rutledge; a daughter, Deloris Dianne Smith; a brother, Ralph Davis; three sisters, Clara Pollard, Wanda Fletcher and Geneva Tompkins.

A graveside service were at the Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. Burial was under the direction of Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home.
