Mrs. Jos. Davis Passes Away

The people of this community were grieved this morning of the death of Mrs. Joseph Davis, which occurred in this city this morning at 6:30, following a seventeen months illness from cancer. Mrs. Davis had undergone two operations for the disease and everything known to medical science was done for her but for the past six weeks she had been seriously ill and but little hope was entertained for her recovery.

The passing of Mrs. Davis will be mourned by all who knew her, as she was a women of outstanding character and charming personality. She had scores of personal, as well as business friends, having been associated with her husband in the drug business for many years. She was born in Millville, Utah fifty six years ago and is survived by her husband and son Russell; four sisters, Mrs. Louisa Talbot, who resides in Canada, Mrs. Edith Howard of American Falls, Idaho, Mrs. Anna May of Honeyville, Utah and Mrs. Robert Birch of this city; and two brothers, J.O. Henrie of Drigg, Idaho and Sam Henrie of this city.

Funeral arrangements have not been made, pending word from relatives, but will be announced as soon as the time and place is decided upon.

Funeral Services Held Sunday

Impressive funeral services were held Sunday morning from the Second Ward L.D.S. Chapel, over the remains of the late Mrs. Joseph Davis, who passed away in this city on February 8th. The large crowd in attendance, both from Montpelier and outside points, and the beautiful floral tributes, testified the love and esteem held for Mrs. Davis by all who knew her.

The services were opened by Bishop Louis Perkins, following which the Second Ward Choir sang, "I Need Thee Every Hour"; Bishop Herman Hoff spoke briefly of the life of deceased, and the Choir sang "Oh My Father". Other speakers were Presidents Ed C. Rich, H.H. Hoff and Silas Wright. Mrs. Marteal Hendricks sang a beautiful solo "The Home Land" and the services were closed wth the hymn "We Shall Meet By The River" and benediction, which was pronounced by Arthur S. Richards. Pallbearers were Messrs. Dave Davis, John Brennan, Guy Davis, Blaine Nelson, Steward Davis and Dell Dalton.

Interment was made in the Montpelier Cemetery, where the grave was dedicated by Byron E. Mumford.
