Alna I. Meacham, passed away and went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at Bright Kavanagh House with her family there to comfort her. She was born in Adelphi, Iowa, January 23, 1921, daughter of Eugene and Mary Suddeth. Alna was baptized into Christ August 11, 1938 at the Dean Ave. Church of Christ; was a graduate of East High School; served in the U.S Navy Waves during WWII; and was married to Glenn L. Meacham, November 4, 1948. They had made their home outside of Carlisle for many years. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011 at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle. Family and friends visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday also at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter following a luncheon at the Dean Ave. Church of Christ, 2907 Dean Ave. in Des Moines. Preceding in death were her parents; infant brother Martin Suddeth, sister Thelma Freeman, and brothers Wendell and Dale Suddeth. AIna's surviving family members include her husband Glenn of Carlisle; daughter Pat (Dennis) Van Ryswyk of Carlisle; sons Jerry Meacham of Carlisle and Dan Meacham of Pleasant Hill; grandchild Michelle Stravers (Jim Haynes), four great-grandchildren, Ashley Van Ryswyk, David Beach, Owen Stravers and Robert Stravers; two sisters Audrey Brady of Altoona and Mary Alice Fillman of Carlisle. Memorials will go to Bright Kavanagh House. Peterson Funeral Home Carlisle, Iowa.
