Wendell Holmes Suddeth, 87, passed away on April 30, 2006. Funeral service will 1 p.m. Thursday, May 4. 2006 at the Westchester Evangelical Free Church, 4910 Aurora in Des Moines. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hamilton's Funeral Home. Wendell was born on July 11, 1918, in Adelphi, Iowa and graduated from East High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a master electrician, and a retired machinist In the Mailing Room of the Des Moines Register with over 35 years of service. Wendell was a member of the Westchester Evangelical Free Church, the International Mailer's Union, and a former member of the Pride of Iowa Barbershop Chorus. Wendell is survived by his wife, Nadine; a daughter, Gail Cashett; two sons, Gary (Vicki) Suddeth and Gregory (Sharon) Suddeth; a stepdaughter, Jan (Ray) Glew; a stepson, Mark (Peggi) Schartner; three sisters, Audrey Brady, Alna (Glenn) Meacham and Mary Alice (Bud) Fillman; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Eugene Suddeth; a sister, Thelma Freeman; and a brother, Dale Suddeth. Memorial contributions may be made to the Westchester Evangelical Free Church.
