Charles P. England, 75, died Aug. 16, 1999, at Mason District Hospital in Havana, Ill. He was a resident of Lewistown, Ill.

He was born Feb. 16, 1924, in Manito. His parents were Henry P. and Lela (McKinney) England. He married Roberta (Clinton) England on Aug. 24, 1941, in Old Monroe, Mo. She survives. Other survivors include nine daughters, Sandra O'Bryant of Montana, Diane VanAntwerp of Oklahoma, Jane Anderson of Greenwood, Charla Brown, Susan Lindsey, Barbara Kittell and Debby Shaffer, all of Illinois, Lori Rosado of Arizona and Janet Barcelos of California; one brother, Robert Shreveport of Louisiana; three sisters, Stella Pound and Frances Snyder, both of Illinois, and Shirley Thompson of Missouri; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Boyce England; two brothers; and three grandchildren.

He owned and operated Charlie's Autobody in Lewistown, Ill., for 41 years, retiring in 1988.

He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, Lewistown Community High School Boosters Club and the Lewistown American Legion Bishop Post 1. He was a past member of the Optimist Club and Lewistown Lions Club.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

The Rev. James Fedosuk conducted a service Aug. 19 at Henry Memorial Home. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery, with military rites by Lewistown American Legion Post 1 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5001.
