From the St. Lawrence Republican (St. Lawrence Co., NY) 7 April 1897, p.3 [Tues] -DEATH OF MRS. ELIZABETH BEST. From the Broadalbin Herald. Mrs. Elizabeth Best died at the home of her son, Rev. Isaac O. Best, in this place, on Saturday of la grippe, at the advanced age of 89 years. Mrs. Best was born in Pickering, Yorkshire, England, and in company with her husband, came to this country in 1830. In 1859 Mr. Best died, leaving her with quite a large family of children, of whom the following survive her: Rev. Isaac O. Best, of this place, Messrs. John M. and William K. Best, of Kansas, and Mrs. Mary E. Miller, of Duluth Minn. Mrs. Best was a lady possessed of many admirable qualities of mind and heart and delighted in doing the will of her Master. Her funeral was held from her late home on Monday afternoon, Rev. Dr. Gardner, of Gloversville, conducting the services, assisted by Rev. J. R. Shaw, of this place, and Rev. D. Herron, of North Broadalbin. The remains were buried in our village cemetery.

Elizabeth Duck Best and her husband John Milner Best Sr. had six children: Thomas B. Best, John Milner Best Jr., William Kidd Best, Mary Elizabeth Best Miller, Isaac Oliver Best and George B. Best. John Milner Best Sr. died in 1859 in Ontario, Kansas. (From descendant L.W.)
