LaVerne Christiansen Nielsen Grandma Chris TOOELE, UT -LaVerne Grantham Christiansen Nielsen, 95, passed away December 28,2006 of natural causes. She lived a fulfilled life of love and service to her family and church. She was employed at the Tooele Army Depot for 30 years. LaVerne was born in Park City, UT on July 4, 1911 to James Grantham and Myrtle Green Grantham. Laverne married Byron Ray Christiansen June 9,1927. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on July 1, 1948. Byron preceded her in death March 22, 1968. Laverne married LaVon Nielsen on September 11, 1970. He preceded her in death on January 30, 1986. She is survived by her six children: Byron Ray (Nina), LaNile Bracken (Floyd), Max (Lynn), Echo Hampton, Wayne (Helen), Douglas (Patricia). Her legacy continues with 28 grandchildren, 109 great-grandchildren, 80 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Golda Nye, Jessie Barnes, Edna Bryan, and Lucille Capson; and one brother, James Grantham. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2007, 11:00 a.m. at the Middle Canyon Ward, 777 Skyline Drive, Tooele, Utah. The viewing will be Tuesday, January 2, 2007, 6-8:00 p.m. at Tate Mortuary, 110 S. Main, Tooele and 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the Church. Interment will be in the Tooele City Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the devoted staff of Mountain West Home Health and Cottage Glen Assisted Living Center for their loving care given to our mother in her last days.
