John A. Ferrand was born December 21, 1823, and died February 8, 1912. He was a native of Caldwell parish and for nearly four-score years and ten his life was identified with the interests of this locality.

He leaves six daughters, two sons, J. H. Ferrand, W. G. Ferrand and numerous other relatives.

He was loved and respected by all who knew him and will be missed by a large circle of friends. Until a few days ago he was remarkably hale and hearty for his years, often walking a mile or two for the exercise.

He was buried at Mt. Pleasant cemetery by his wife, who had been laid to rest just two years ago.
