Thomas left Quincy in the 1880s, leaving behind a wife-Sallie Boyd Lees. Sallie filed for divorce in 1899, but stated in her complaint that she had been informed that Thomas was killed in a railroad accident in Sept. 1899 in Ellisville, Mo.
Thomas' sister, Anna Belle Thompson Waddle, died in 1919; her obituary lists him as a survivor, living in St. Louis, MO. No death or burial record has been found at this time.
Thomas was aka Thomas Thompson, taking the last name of his step-father on occasion.
