"Raymond R. "Dutch" Strait Sr., 72, Hustontown [Fulton Co, PA], died Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, [Franklin Co.] Pa. He was born in Harrisonville [Fulton Co, PA], on March 31, 1938, the son of the late Norman B. and Helen Blanche (DeShong) Strait. He was the husband of Frances G. (Jones) Strait, whom he married on July 18, 2007. He served in the U.S. Army as a Private E2 from 1960 to 1963, was a member of the Knobsville Church of the Brethren, McConnellsburg, the Fulton County Gun Club, the Trapper's Association, the Forbes Road Lions Club and was a mechanic and later a supervisor at Penn-DOT for 26 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters: Viola B. McDaid of Pittsburgh, Pa.; Rebecca L. Olson of Edinboro, Pa.;, Wilma M. Hill of Fannettsburg, Pa.; and Amanda L. Miller of Orrstown, Pa.; sons: Raymond R. Strait II of Orrstown, Pa.; and Daniel M. Strait of Pleasant Hall, Pa.; sisters: Frances R. Barnhart of Hustontown; Helen M.K. Pieffer of Harrisonville; Mary Mae Bookheimer of Hustontown; a brother, Kenneth L. Strait of Harrisonville; 18 grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Sherman Valentino. Funeral services were held at Knobsville Church of the Brethren, McConnellsburg, at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 19, 2010. Pastor Chris Elliott officiated. Interment was at Sideling Hill Primitive Baptist Cemetery, Needmore. Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., Harrisonville, was in charge of arrangements. Military services were conducted by the Fulton Honor Guard."
