She was the wife of Norman J. Baer, to whom she was married 67 1/2 years on May 24, 1939.
Born in Penn Twp., she was the daughter of the late Albert S. and Margaret P. (Davis) Kirkhoff.
She worked as a supervisor for 20 years for the Crown Knitting Mill, Mohrsville, retiring in 1979. She was a member of St. Luke's Church, Shoemakersville, where she was a former choir member for 30 years. Margaret was a former secretary of the Shoemakersville Senior Citizens.
Surviving in addition to her husband is one son: N. Allen Baer, and his wife Linda J. Baer, Sinking Spring; and three daughters: Lorraine M. (Baer), and her husband Norman H. Gundrum, Northampton; Kathleen E. (Baer), and her husband Bruce A. Grim, Harrisburg; and Donna M. (Baer), and her husband Scott E. Althouse, Hershey. There is one brother: Elwood B. Kirkhoff, Wyomissing. Margaret is also survived by seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers: Miles, Richard, John, Lewis and Leon Kirkhoff; and one sister: Ellen (Kirkhoff) Zerbe.
Services will be on Wednesday at 11 a.m. from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., Centerport, with Rev. George J. Miller and Rev. Alfred H. Erb officiating. Burial will be in St. Luke's Cemetery, Perry Twp. A visitation with the family will be held Wednesday 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shoemakersville Senior Citizens, c/o Marian Mengel, Treas., 550 N. 5th Street, Hamburg, PA 19526.
