George was the son of David and Martha M. (Nichols) Nichols. He married Minnie Jane (Hill) Nichols on 23 Aug 1890 in Ozark, Franklin County, AR, and they were the parents of eight children:
Charles Newton Nichols, Tessie Aldonia Nichols Whisenhunt, Ulisses "Ulis" Grant Nichols, Mary Melvina Nichols (buried on the Jeptha Greenwood farm located between Alix and Denning, AR, b. 11 July 1898, d. 27 Sept 1905), Vestal "Bess" Viola Nichols Stockstill, Harlie Aaron Nichols, Georgia May Nichols (buried in Triplett Cem., Texanna, OK) and unnamed baby boy Nichols (stillborn, buried in Triplett Cem., Texanna, OK).
