William Penn Bradford, aged 76, prominent retired Grant county farmer, died at his home five miles north of this city at 10 o'clock Saturday morning following an illness of only a few days. Death was due to a second stroke of apoplexy.

Mr. Bradford was a life long resident of Grant county and was well known throughout the entire district. He was the son of William R. and Elizabeth Bradford, who were among the earliest pioneer residents of the county.

He was a prominent member of the Morris Chapel church and until recently he took a very active part in farm activities in the county.

The funeral was held at the residence at 10:30, Tuesday morning. Rev. J. O. Campbell, of Chester, in charge. Burial was in the Marion I.O.O.F. cemetery.

He is survived by the widow, Nancy, and the following children: Mrs. Nora Beekman, Fort Wayne; Mrs. Ella Burris, Redlands, Calif.; Charles J. and Bert Bradford, Washington township; Mrs. Carrie Kocher, Los Angeles, Calif., Vern Bradford, Marion; Mrs. Rosie King, Detroit, Mich.; Wilbur Bradford, Washington township; Mrs. Hazel Veach, Garrett, Ind.; Homer Bradford, at home; Mrs. Nellie Moore, Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. Minnie Holmes, Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. Merlie Richardson, Kokomo, Ind.; and Mrs. Velvia Lines, Marion; one brother, Henry Bradford, Washington township; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Dibble and Mrs. Nelson Wolfe, Washington township.
