Samuel Buell, son of Samuel and Mary (Seward) Buell He crossed the Oregon Trail in 1847 with his parents in a wagon train led by his Uncle Elias. His father took the family to California in the summer of 1852, then returned to Iowa by way of Nicaragua and New Orleans in the spring and summer of 1853. Overland back to California in 1858.
