Merrel Max Reeves, 85, of Marietta, Georgia, died Tuesday, April 3, 2007.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, April 6, 2007 at Medford-Peden funeral home. The reverend Tommy Lockhart will be officiating.

Burial will follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery in Marietta, Georgia.

Mr. Reeves was a Carroll County, native and life long Georgia resident, who lived in Cobb County for 38 years.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran and served during WWII, receiving an Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon with 2 bronze stars, American Defense Service Ribbon and a Good Conduct Metal. He retired from civil service at Dobbins Air Force Base.

Mr. Reeves was a Mason.

Survivors include his wife Marilyn (Smith) Reeves of Marietta, Georgia, 2 sons; Bruce Swann of Marietta and Steve Reeves of Bowden; 2 daughters, Dodie Carner of Canton and Patricia Norton of Carrollton; 2 sisters, Nellie Ruth Kilgore and Joan Adamson, both of Bowdon; 3 grandchildren, Tyson Swann of Canton, Susan Jackson of Demorest, and Michael Norton of Carrollton; 4 great grandchildren, Tyler and Tatum Swann, Morgan and Erin Pettus; and several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. Thurday April 5, 2007 at the funeral home.
