J. T. as he was known to his family was killed by friendly fire in his bunk as a buddy was cleaning his gun. It accidentally discharged and killed J. T. He was recovering fron a gunshot wound to his trigger finger and was to return to the front lines the next morning.
His wife decided to let him be buried overseas rather than bring him back to Georgia. This hurt his parents so much.He was in the 104th Infantry Regiment, 26th Division.
