Text: WILL OF ANDREW COLVIN
In the name of God, Amen. I, Andrew Colvin, of South Carolina, Chester District, being of sound and disposing mind and memory, and calling to mind the uncertainty of life, and being desirous to dispose of all such worldly estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with, do make, and ordain this my Last Will, in manner following, - - that is to say , I desire that so much of my personal property as will discharge my debts, be immediately sold after my decease, and after my just debts are paid out of the monies arising therefrom, I give to my wife Jemima Colvin, one third part of my Estate, as well real personal, for and during the term of her natural life: and after her decease, I give the same to my children hereinafter mentioned, to be Equally divided amongest them, to them and their heirs forever. Agreeable to the valuation of my property, and in specification thereof, I give to my wife Jemima Colvin the following property. (Viz.). One hundred and fifty acres of land adjoining Enoch Grubbs Junr. With equal length of lines on each end, one Negro girl named Nelly. And the residue of my property both real and personal I give to my Children, Alford, William, Mary, Hazel, Susan, Andrew, Petree, Thomas, Mabre, Garland, Martha, John, Ansley, to be equally divided amongest them, share and share about. The property both real and personal to be kept together, the children to be raised, maintained, and educated, out of the proceeds thereof, until the youngest child become of age, under the management and direction of the Executors hereinafter mentioned.
And lastly, I do constitute and appoint Alford Colvin Jur , and my son Andrew Colvin Jr. Executors of this my last will and testament, by me heretofore made. In testimony where of, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal, this 21st day of August in the Year of our Lord 1831.
