-- Bonnie Wyatt Birchfield, of Charlotte, died October 4, 2011 at home. She was from Micaville, NC and was the daughter of the late Milas and Ellen Wyatt.

She was also predeceased in death by her daughter, Lisa Haney, two brothers, Jay and Harvey Wyatt, and sister, Norma Woody. She is survived by her loving husband, Frank Birchfield of Charlotte; daughter, Angela Mitchell of Burnsville; sons, Victor (Wanda) Pendley of Asheville, Curt (Sue) Pendley of Concord, Keith Birchfield of Charlotte, Kris Birchfield of New York, NY and son-in-law, Bobby Haney; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Bonnie, at an early age, developed a deep love of nature and the outdoors. She was passionate about the preservation of wildlife as evidenced by the hundreds of pets and wildlife she cared for in her lifetime. Many articles have been written in the Charlotte Observer about her love of animals. She loved gardening, especially flowers and had a deep love and respect for the arts. She was an accomplished singer, songwriter, and musician. Her poetry has been published. Some of her favorite times were camping in their RV in the Blue Ridge Mountains with her family and friends around a campfire, making music and singing. Bonnie had been appointed by the state of North Carolina as a Guardian ad Litem (an advocate for children). Bonnie and Frank were also licensed foster parents and fostered many children over the years.

A visitation and memorial service will be held Monday, October 10, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Crown Funeral Service, 605-D North Polk St., Pineville, NC. A private inurnment will follow at Crown Memorial Park, 9620 Rodney St., Pineville, NC. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society, 2646 Toomey Ave., Charlotte, NC 28203. The family wishes to express gratitude to Metrolina Nephrology and the Nations Ford Dialysis Center for the exceptional care Bonnie received with special thanks going to Dr. Fotiadis, Dr. Merten, Hanani Felix, and Paula Watts.
