US Congressman, US Senator. Elected to represent Kentucky's 7th District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1837 to 1843. Also served as Presidential Elector from Kentucky in 1801, Member of the Kentucky State House of Representatives in 1802 and 1806, United States Senator from Kentucky from 1807 to 1813, Secretary of the State of Kentucky from 1816 to 1819, and Governor of Arkansas Territory from 1829 to 1835.
