Suzette TARDOLAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, October 8, 2011 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Pearl Gene Briggs, 85, who passed away peacefully on October 5, 2011 at 9:05 pm surrounded by his family.

Reverend Thomas Faulk will conduct the funeral services.

Burial will take place in Fountain Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Briggs, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the son of the late Rey Pearl Briggs of Lucas County, Iowa and the former Mary Zimmerman of Canesville, Missouri.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Fern Briggs; one daughter, Sandra Williams and husband Gary of Branson, MO; two sons, Richard Gene Briggs and wife Brenda of Canton, TX and David Lynn Briggs and wife Gail of Irving, TX; four step sons, Quentin Simon and wife Elizabeth of Lafayette LA, Cle' Simon and wife Kathi of Lafayette LA, Roger Austin and wife Kathy of Church Point, LA and James Randy Austin of Lafayette, LA; one step-daughter, Suzette Tardo of Lafayette, LA; three sisters, Louise Parker of Durant, OK, Jaunita Jones and husband Paul of Kentucky, Colene Reynolds of Charlton, IA; twenty-three grandchildren; Sean, Amber, Robbie, Davey, Brittany, Andrea, Stephanie, Dede, Krissie, Dominic, Danielle, Gabrial, Ila Jewel, Jessica, Casey, Keith, Jason, Jordan, Nick, Cameryon, Cole, Camille, and Savannah; many great grandchildren and he was special papa to Mamie, Carson Clark, Ella Gardner, Will Patin, Aubrey, Hayden, Grant, Isabella, and Anna-Claire (Sugielou)Boudreaux.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruth Briggs, Yvonne Rutledge and his brothers, E.C. Briggs and Rex Briggs.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
