On last Wednesday Aleck Stephens and daughter, Mrs. John Kittoe of this village received a telegram from Sheffield, Iowa that his daughter Mrs. Ben Blewett was dangerously ill. Mr. Stephens took the evening train for the west but was delayed by the snowstorm then raging and did not reach her bedside till she was dead.
She died on Friday morning after two weeks of intense suffering. She leaves a husband and infant child two weeks old to mourn her loss.
Her remains were brought here Saturday morning for burial accompanied by her husband, father and sister. The remains were taken to the home of her sister, Mrs. John Kittoe and kept there till Sunday afternoon.
The funeral took place from the ME church and was conducted by Rev. Cook. The church could not contain all the people, showing what esteem Mrs. Blewett was held here. Mrs. Blewett, nee Rose Stephens was raised in Benton and was married two years and was a most estimable lady and is sadly missed by her aged father, she having kept house for him for many years since the death of her mother.
