Mrs. Mary Jane Kittoe, whose maiden name was Mary Jane Stephens was born in Benton, Lafayette County, Wisconsin, in the year 1852, and died at her home in that place Sept. 1, 1902, of a chronic affection of the bowels, known as membranous enteritis. For many years she had been afflicted but not until a short time before her demise was she confined to her room.
In 1875 she was united in marriage to John H. Kittoe and they have always lived in the vicinity of her childhood's home.
The funeral took place from the home, Sept. 3, at 2 o'clock and a very impressive service held in the M.E. Church by Rev. Bennett assisted by Rev. Lindsley, after which interment was made in the M.E. cemetery.
She leaves to mourn her departure a husband, an aged father, Mr. Alex Stephens of Benton, one sister, Mrs. Lydia Gray, of Sheffield, Iowa, and an adopted son and daughter.
