Mrs. Martin dies after several months illness
Mrs. Katie Cassell Martin died Monday, June 7, at the residence of her son, Chalmas Henson of Kilmichael. Services were held last Tuesday from Milligan Springs Church with Dan Beardain, Minister and Rev. Arnold Jacks officating.

Mrs. Martin was born in Gerogia, January 12, 1881 and was a member of Milligan Springs Baptist Church.

She is also survived by her daughter, Mrs. Effie Watts, Morehead; one son Loyce Dewitt Henson, Kilmichael; one sister, Mrs. Della Jackson of Alabama; one brother, Rudolph Cassell, 10 grandchildren.

Interment was in Milligan Springs Cemetery under the direction of Winona Funeral Home.

Katie Cassels married C. L. Henson on Aug 6, 1899 in Haralson County, Georgia. On the 1900 census they were newlyweds living in Buncombe, Haralson County. Katie's parents and siblings were also living in Buncombe. It is unknown what happened to C. L. Henson. By 1910, Katie (who stated she was married) lived with her parents and siblings in Webster County, MS. Living with them were her three children, Effie, Chalmas and Dewitt. By 1920 Katie had married Joe Martin and they lived in Montgomery County, Mississippi.
